Mine by Katy Evans

First, I'd like to wish everyone a happy holiday season! A little late on Thanksgiving, but the sentiment is there.
Hoping everyone will take time to enjoy the holiday season and don't forget....Read!! Read!! Read!!

So, now, for Mine by Katy Evans. I must confess real life got in the way and it took me a little longer to finish Mine than it normally takes me to read a book with such a worthy book boyfriend. I can tell you, I automatically fell in love with Remington "Riptide" Tate the second he jumped out of the ring in Real and chased Brooke Dumas out of the ring to introduce himself to her.  The way he spoke to her.  That kiss?? Holy hell why couldn't that be me?

If you read Real, and who hasn't? You know the back story between Remy and Brooke. Mine takes their relationship to the next level.  Not to sound corny, but Katy Evans made Remy and Brooke's love totally, well, real.  They love each other so much, but it's not in that creepy obsessive love that sometimes happens in adult contemporary novels.  It's the kind of love that while you're reading you're thinking....where do I get my own Remy?

As much in love as Brooke and Remy are, Brooke still has insecurities about their relationship and he is still uber possessive of Brooke. Once again, not in a creepy way, or maybe it's just me and I think everything Remington does is adorable. Whatever it is, theirs is truly a love story.

But of course, what is a love story without (as my book buddy always tells me) bumps? And Remy and Brooke have several bumps to deal with. Their biggest hurdle seems to be Brooke's freak out every time she thinks about Remy and other women.  She fears when Remy "goes dark", he'll just forget about everything they have and well for lack of a better word, bang anything that moves. Seriously, the way Katy Evans describes Remy, I can't lie, that would be my fear too. Is Remy one of the good ones? You'll have to read to find out.

There are a few other bumps.  One being that snake Benny "The Scorpion". He's still trying to throw Remy off his game, by doing really screwed up things to Brooke.  What that jackass doesn't know is everything he does, just makes Remy more determined to take him down. What fun it was reading that scene.  Karma's a bitch Benny. Hasn't anyone ever taught you that?

Brooke and Remy also come across another "bump" in their road to happiness. This one is both happy and a little bit scary. It also keeps them apart for weeks. So, Brooke's insecurities sky rocket and our boy Remy goes dark. In the weeks they are apart, thank goodness Brooke's BFF Melanie is there to take care of her. Truthfully, her parents are judgmental and don't get me started on her sister Nora. At first they definitely do more harm than good to our girl Brooke.

When our lovers finally reunite...holy hell!! They have a sex scene so hot, I'm surprised my book didn't go up in flames. At this time Remy and Brooke decide they can't be apart anymore and Brooke goes back out onto the underground fighting circuit with him.

In Mine we also meet Remy's dreadful parents. They are truly awful people, who don't realize what a wonderful son they have, no thanks to them. And you go Brooke, because she lets them know exactly what she thinks of them. This I believe is the biggest "bump" in our story. But with Brooke's love, the love of his friends and his own determination, Remington Tate shows us what he's made of.

I absolutely love the support and encouragement Brooke gives Remy to make him understand what a wonderful man he really is and I love, love, love how much Remy adores Brooke.

Remington Tate is an amazing book boyfriend and totally swoon worthy.  I have to give Mine five out of 5 stars.  If you haven't read it yet. What on earth are you waiting for?? Go read it!!

The Weight of Words By Georgina Guthrie

"All I can think about is what a mess I've been for the last few days without you.  If you want to step away -- temporarily, I'd hope -- I can't force you to change your mind.  But right now, I want to be with you more than ever."

As soon as I read the words, "If you liked Gabriel's Inferno, you'll love Georgina Guthrie's The Weight of Words". Then I saw That Sylvain Reynard recommended it, so I knew I had to read it.  I was so excited to find another book boyfriend. Another book boyfriend like Gabriel? What could be better?  Enter Daniel Grant, unbelievably gorgeous, smart, and sexy, or "schmexy" as Aubrey's friend Julie calls him.

Aubrey Price is a young, beautiful woman in her last year at the University of Toronto. She's the lucky girl to win Daniel's attention. Only guess what? Daniel Grant is Aubrey's teaching assistant in her Studies in Shakespeare class and the son of Aubrey's on campus boss Victoria College's Dean Grant.  Can you say forbidden?

Set at the University of Toronto, we get to watch these two characters falling for each other, even when they know they can't.  Their initial meeting is uncomfortable to say the least.  Daniel and his dad are fighting as Aubrey arrives at work. And as Aubrey's mom says, the two are "different as chalk and cheese".

To make matters even sketchier, when Daniel winds up as Aubrey's Teaching Assistant, she's already fighting a fierce attraction to him. Daniel definitely sends mixed signals to Aubrey.  The man runs hot and cold......until.....the family dinner.

Daniel has asked Aubrey not to tell his dad that he's her teaching assistant. Not realizing Daniel and Aubrey already know each other, Dean Grant invites Aubrey over for dinner over school break thinking Daniel won't be there. The dinner invite is a thinly veiled attempt at match making. Dean Grant thinks Aubrey is the perfect girl for Daniel and brings her to meet Daniel's mom.

Guess what?? Plot twist. Daniel's plans got canceled and he comes home for break. The problem is, now dad finds out our star crossed pair know each other, and dad's not happy. I thought it was funny that Aubrey got to meet the family even before she got the boyfriend.  Anyway...Daniel does what any reasonable male would do. He gets good and drunk. Now you know what happens when you're drunk....the truth comes out! During an incredibly sexy and suggestive game of snooker, true feelings come out and in case you hadn't figured it out. Daniel is as smitten by Aubrey as she is by him.

Going back to Toronto is difficult. Our would be lovers have to hide their feelings from, well, everyone. Try as they might, they can't seem to stay away from each other. There's a fair amount of clandestine meetings and longing glances during class.  And when these two meet, things get pretty hot and heavy. Thank goodness no one catches on because Daniel's got a big secret that could ruin him and any chance he has with Aubrey.

Throw in Aubrey's guy roommate and best friend Matt who may or may not have a crush on Aubrey. A stunning and mysterious women named Penny and you have The Weight of Words.

Why is Daniel Grant book boyfriend worthy? It could be the gorgeous face and toned body. It definitely may be the subtle British thing he's got going on (Love my Brits! Those accents! Yum!). The man is definitely swoon worthy and Aubrey is one lucky girl.

Here's the part I didn't like....the ending! I was thinking holy hell I need more! So Georgina, give a girl a break and get going on a sequel hun! I need to know what happens with these two.

Something cool.  If you leave a comment, you may win a copy of The Weight of Words. Rumor has it, I may get to choose one lucky winner!

Enjoy this new book boyfriend and tell me what you think!!

Broken by Ryanne Anthony (The M Series)

Ok so I know I usually pick out a book boyfriend, but this book had so many delicious men, I thought I'd give it a whirl. Broken is a story of two families, The Cannon family and the Harvey family. Through marriage and friendship these two families have merged to become one super family. They've come together one Saturday afternoon for a marathon therapy session. It seems there's a secret that finally needs to come out into the open.

The story begins in the office of Victoria Fields, a therapist with a few secrets of her own I might add. It seems Amanda Cannon, wife of Joshua Cannon, the youngest Cannon brother, has been seeing Victoria as a patient. They've brought the whole family in for this session to finally put out in the open the mess their marriage has become.

One interesting thing about this book, you get to meet all the Cannons and all the Harveys. You get to know a little bit about them and their secrets. This allows author Ryanne Anthony to set up the background for the M Series. All the Cannon brothers and their wives get their own novel.

Back to our story. Joshua and Mandy have just informed their family members that Joshua cheated on Mandy. They're both devastated by this and it throws the other family members into a sort of holy shit! Frenzy.

Evelyn, the only Cannon sister is particularly devastated by this news. While she's ripping a new one into her younger brother, she mistakenly calls him daddy. Secret number two. Evelyn is the product of an affair between Stephen, the Cannon patriarch and Joan Turner (A lesbian gold digger with her own secrets). Evelyn or Evie as her family calls her is beside herself with this information. It brings up the pain of her past and her insecurities as an adult.

The focus of Broken however, is Joshua and Mandy.  The infidelity is killing them. And while first you're going to be pissed at Joshua and think, "Ha! Typical man."  When you read the reason behind it, your hearts going to break a little for the youngest Cannon. And yes, you'll hope Mandy takes him back. Oh! One more thing. The woman he cheated with, yea, she's pregnant.

Without a doubt. There's a lot of angst in this novel. You'll be sad, you'll be angry, but you'll also laugh. With three pregnant women (not telling who) and a brother who was born to be the class clown, there's definite levity mixed into the story.

Which leads to my book boyfriend, Matthew Cannon. Yes Ryanne I do love me some Matthew and I'm waiting rather impatiently for his story to be released. Matthew is the middle brother and seems to be the typical middle child. Katherine, the Cannon mom is always head slapping her middle boy. You just get the feeling Matthew wants everything to be ok. He wants everyone to be happy.

Matthew is married to Madison. There are a lot of Ms to keep up with. Madison is another of my favorite characters. She's feisty and funny and she keeps Matthew in his place. And yes she does have a secret. A secret that could destroy her and Matthew.

Marcus is the eldest Cannon brother and his wife is Mariah. And while they seem like the perfect couple. There are secrets between them as well.

Here's the thing. On the outside the Cannons appear to be living perfect lives. They're beautiful, wealthy people. Who wouldn't want to be them. Once you get a look inside, you see that they're all dealing with different pain and it makes them human.

Victoria and her husband Tim who is also a therapist do a brilliant job of trying to put the broken Cannons back together again.

I sat down and read this one Saturday afternoon. I loved the idea of the story, I wanted to know more about the characters. I even knew which one I'd want to be in case they ever make a movie about the Cannons. But, I'm not going to tell you that either (Ok, I will.  Monica, but you'll have to read the book to figure out why).

Anyway, read Broken. It's a great story with amazing characters. Find it on Smashwords, Amazon, and iBooks. Follow Ryanne on twitter AuthorRyanneAnthony @Ryanne_Anthony.

Enjoy! Don't forget. Tell me what you think!!

Simple Perfection Abbi Glines

"In all her twisted perfection, she had made me fall helplessly in love with her" Woods Kerrington

It's no secret that Abbi Glines is one of my favorite New Adult authors. I have read all of her series and most of her books more than one time. Two of my favorite book boyfriends are Beau Vincent and Rush Finlay. And yes I have crushes on, well most of her male characters. With that being said, yes, Woods Kerrington of Simple Perfection is completely swoon worthy.

Simple Perfection starts off at the funeral of Woods father, who died of a heart attack at the end of Twisted Perfection.  Woods is upset his dad died, but can't find it in his heart to forgive, because of all the pain his dad caused Della. You remember her. Woods one night stand who turned into the love of his life.  Woods mom, is the mother from hell. Even in mourning, she still has the ability to be a horrible bitter woman who tries to sabotage her son. Through it all Woods still tells mom he loves her and will take care of her. Of course the stipulation being mom accepts Della. Mom wants no part of that and Woods leaves.

Slithering back into the picture is Woods' ex-fiancée Angelina. She moves in with Woods' mom explaining she's going to take care of her. Anyone with a smidgen of brain knows it's all about trying to get Woods back. Of course Woods calls her on it. He basically tells her he'll never want her and to pack it in. Angelina doesn't appreciate that and goes after Della for revenge. Lucky for Della, badass Blaire (The Fallen Series) comes to her rescue. Seriously, besides the hot guys, Blair is one of my favorite Abbi characters. If I can come back as a book character, I want to be Blair. It's probably one of the best scenes in the book.

After the Angelina debacle, Woods becomes even more protective of Della. Woods wants her around him all the time. He doesn't want her to work or go anywhere without him. When he finally allows Della to come and work as his assistant, he realizes she can do an amazing job. She is a natural and Woods is impressed by Della as always. But Della being Della feels that his protectiveness will eventually become resentment. Della doesn't get the whole Woods is crazy in love with her thing. As close as they seem and as amazing as their sex is. Yes, it's pretty damn steamy. She thinks she's going to lose him.

Della's solution is of course to leave. She decides to continue what she began before she met Woods. She's going to travel with Tripp (Another Rosemary Beach character) and find herself. Tripp is incredibly hot himself and I imagine if Della wasn't with Woods, Tripp would be all up in her business. But apparently in Rosemary Beach, guys are respectful of their buddies women, imagine? Anyway, Tripp comes to take Della away so she can sort through all the crap in her life. (BTW Abbi, if you're reading, Tripp could use his own book. Just a thought) Around here in the book I thought Woods was going to have a nervous breakdown. But he held it together. As much as he wants to go after her, all of his friends let him know, Della has to find her way back to him.

In the midst of all this, Woods' psycho of a mother is being taken care of by that snake Angelina. At one point Angelina admits she still wants Woods and she's doing everything she can to win him back. The thing is, I'm sure Angelina is thinking in terms of merger, not marriage.

Momzilla even tries to take the club away from Woods by trying to turn the board of directors against him. I loved the way Woods solved this problem. It was incredibly clever.

Della eventually finds her way to her best friend Braden's home. Braden has some information for Della that turns the world as she knows it upside down. She spends time with Braden who is clearly the best friend ever invented. Della finally begins to see herself as a strong women. And when she decides what she wants, damn she really decides what she wants.

Abbi also gives us some background information on Bethy. (Blair's friend from The Fallen Series) Because in a secondary part of the story, Bethy is spinning out of control and her boyfriend Jace doesn't know what to do. He decides on a plan to get Bethy's head back on straight. Jace is definitely a character I really grew to like throughout Rush and Blair's story and now Woods and Della's story.

Some advice, watch out for the twist towards the end. It's something you'll never see coming.

Well, I'd like to think I've convinced you to read Simple Perfection.  If I haven't just remember it's Abbi Glines and you love her. Seriously though, it's an excellent continuation of Woods and Della's story. Read it! Let me know what you think.

Unafraid Melody Grace

" You're going to feel me for days," he whispers, "I'm going to own you, every part of you. Even your heart."
     "Especially your heart."
Hunter to Brittany in Unafraid

So my first thought for this next post was to go back to my girl Abbi Glines. I was so ready to share Rush Finlay. Then my book buddy (you know who you are 😊) said, "You have to read Unafraid by Melody Grace! Hunter is amazing!" Well I downloaded the book as soon as I left her and spent the rest of my night with Hunter Covington. And trust me, he  was well worth the lack of sleep.

The book is a stand alone, but Brittany Ray is a character from Untouched and Unbroken, which are novels about her brother Emerson (Also both great reads. And yes Emerson is a total book boyfriend). Brittany is definitely a broken character. She's had a sucky childhood. Dad that didn't hang around. Mom who found drugs and men more important than her children. As a result, Brit is something of a wild child.

She's angry about the shitty hand life has dealt her. She's bitter that in the sleepy, summer town of Beachwood Bay, she's the white trash townie. Brit is the girl boys do not bring home to meet mama. She's the kind of girl boys take in the back seat of their pick up. Which is what we learn about her in the beginning of the book. And of course she buys into the whole town slut routine and believes no one will ever want her. She's convinced she'll never be good enough for anyone to love....except for Hunter.

Three years ago Hunter Covington and his uppity, wealthy family summered in Beachwood Bay. Where Hunter's grandpa had a horse ranch and Hunter and his brother Jace spend one amazing summer. That summer Hunter fell for the town's bad girl. Only he worshipped her from afar. That's right spent the entire summer not talking to her. Crazy right? Until the last beach bonfire party when Jace tells Hunter, it's now or never.

Hunter sees his chance to get to Brit when two townie boys are harassing her on the beach. They know Brit's reputation, and try to make her agree to a threesome. Hunter sees this and races to rescue. The scuffle on the beach ends with Jace jumping in to protect his little brother and Hunter chasing after Brit, who is not eternally grateful for the rescue. She's not used to anyone other than her brother sticking up for her and doesn't quite know what to do with Hunter's show of chivalry.

At first their encounter is awkward. Between the arguing and getting to know each other. That night after Hunter rushes to rescue Brittany on the beach they actually talk. Now in the story you get the hint that Brit's not the only broken one. You see Brittany's wall finally crack and give into what she wants, which of course is Hunter. She's shocked at how much he's learned about her over the summer. Brittany has a hard time believing he wants her for more than just sex. Because, basically that's all she's ever known in her life. What she doesn't get is Hunter really wants more. So after their night together she just up and leaves him. Never knowing how Hunter really felt and not allowing her self to love him.

Three years later Hunter comes back to Beachwood Bay. He's a Yale grad. Taking over grandpa's horse ranch. Putting it back together after years of neglect. Mostly he's come back to get Brit to trust him. He hates that she left that summer night three years ago.

Of course Brit doesn't make it easy for Hunter and he definitely has his work cut out for him. She battles her doubts and insecurities and Hunter tries to make her understand it's Brittany he really wants. All of her the good and the bad. Brit thinks Hunter is perfect, but what she doesn't know is he's got some darkness of his own he's dealing with.

When Hunter finally takes Brit to bed....holy hell is it hot!  It's quite possibly one of the hottest sex scenes in the many New Adult and Young Adult novels I've read. I have never been one to fall for blonde hair and blue eyes, but in the case of Hunter Covington, I would gladly change from my usual dark hair and green eyed model.

After our lovers wake up from this glorious night, Hunter gets a phone call from his snotty as hell mother that daddy's had a heart attack. Come home. Being the dutiful son, Hunter does just that, bringing Brit with him. Mama Covington takes one look at Brit and sends her packing.

And that my dear readers is "the bump" in the story. Do they work it out? Does Hunter stay? Does Brit get her fairytale? I feel like I've said too much already. So go now... Download or go to the bookstore and buy Unafraid by Melody Grace. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Welcome to Best Book Boyfriends

I've been a reader for as long as I can remember. I read early as a child and always above my grade level. As an adult reading is what relaxes me. I have become hooked on the newest genre of reading...NA or New Adult reading. It's a step up from Young Adult. Older characters, sexier story lines, women pretty much taking what they want. A good girls fantasy come true. I have always loved bad boys and so when I read E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey of course Christian became my first book boyfriend. I spent many night with Mr. Grey, up until the early morning hours, enjoying Christian's kinky fuckery. Next came Sylvia Day's Gideon Cross in Bared to You, and I was hooked.

When I thought about blogging books were the one idea I kept coming back to. Authors have Facebook and Twitter accounts. There are Twitter sites dedicated to Role Play for book characters. So reviewing books and giving my special book boyfriend seal of approval seemed like a logical choice.

The author who has given me the most book boyfriend material is Abbi Glines. I discovered her accidentally and she has become my guilty pleasure.

With that being said. If you haven't read The Vincent Boys, read it as soon as you can. The story revolves around two cousins, Beau and Sawyer Vincent and the girl both of them love. The three have been best friends since they were children. So it only makes sense one of them gets the girl.

Ashton Gray is the town's golden girl. She's also the preacher's daughter who has been dating the perfect Sawyer Vincent for years. During the summer when her boyfriend Sawyer is away, Ashton rekindles her friendship with Beau. It's during this time Ashton learns how much she changed and begins to feel like she chose the wrong Vincent boy.

Don't get me wrong, Sawyer is sweet and perfect, but he's no Beau Vincent. Beau may be the town's bad boy, but he loves Ashton fiercely and would do anything for her.

The three main characters have been best friends since they were children. As time passes, Sawyer and Ashton become boyfriend and girlfriend and Beau is the odd man out. During two weeks in the summer while Sawyer is away, Beau and Ashton rekindle their friendship. Only their friendship becomes much more.

There's turmoil when Sawyer returns and discovers Beau and Ashton. Beau learns a secret about his own life and Ashton's perfect life spirals out of control. Questions are answered at the end for all three main characters. Will Ashton choose the wrong Vincent boy? Or end up alone. Read The Vincent Boys to find out.

If you decide Sawyer is the book boy friend for you, don't fret. He gets his own story in The Vincent Brothers. Me? I can't wait for Abbi to write the next Vincent Boys novel.

     Enjoy!!!
