LA REVIEWS AN ACT OF COURAGE...BY KC LYNN

"Five years ago I didn't think it was fair to ask you to wait for me. Well, I'm going to be selfish and ask you to do just that. I'm praying I didn't fuck things up beyond repair. Because I'm coming back for you, and once I do, I'm never letting you go. I need you because you're my anchor. My light. My salvation in the night. My angel. My peace. The best part of me. I love you. Please, wait for me."

I haven't started a review with a quote in a long time. Not because I haven't seen any, but because none have any touched me in quite the way this one has. As I typed in my classroom after school, I kept tearing up. There are books you read that are good. There are books that you love. And sometimes there are books that consume you. An Act Of Courage will forever be one of those books for me. It is a book that I couldn't put down. It is a book that touched my heart in a way very few books do.

You may be aware that I at times read books and series out of order. Example, I started this series before I read the Men of Honor series. Several of my book friends told me I was crazy and I needed to read Jaxson, Sawyer and Cade's story. So, to be ready for An Act Of Courage, I made sure I read the series. And yes, I fell absolutely in love with all three of those men. But Cade's is the story who touched me the most.

In Cade and Faith's story is where we first meet Christopher and his little sister Ruthie. Their lives have not been easy and Faith is the best thing to happen to them. We also know that this is when Christopher and Alissa first begin their relationship.

From the very start of An Act Of Courage you can see how much Christopher and Alissa love each other. Their plan was for the two of them to go to college together. Unfortunately, Alissa's disgustingly pretentious mother throws a wrench into their plans. Alissa goes off to college and Christopher becomes a Navy Seal.

When Christopher comes back home after being a Navy Seal for five years he's different. He's lost and there's a look in his eyes that tell you he's seen some terrible things. Sadly, he doesn't share his pain with anyone. Not Faith, not Ruthie and not Cade.

Before he goes down a completely self destructive path, Faith intervenes and sets Christopher up with a class at her music school. When the students name him Mr. Grouchy, you kind of know he's got a lot to work on.

The reunion of Christopher and Alissa is definitely not what you'd expect or hope for. That being said, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that their love has never died and they are two people who should be together.

Christopher Walker is a book boyfriend that will always stay in my heart. I loved him from Resisting Temptation when he didn't believe in himself and only Faith, Ruthie and Alissa saw how special he was. I was proud of the young man he became. His love, his loyalty, his honor, everything he did was done with passion.

I adore Alissa. She always believed in Christopher and loved him with her whole heart. She was ready to forgive him for anything and promised to love him no matter what.

I was so emotional while I read this book. I had that squeezing feeling in my chest the whole time. KC Lynn writes so beautifully. Her stories are unique, her characters come to life through her words. Let's not forget how very sexy those Men of Honor are.

KC,  An Act Of Courage is a book that has forever touched my heart. A huge five honorable stars for Christopher, Alissa and the Men of Honor.

LA REVIEWS BLACKBIRD...BY MOLLY MCADAMS

If you follow this blog even a little bit, you no doubt know of my absolute devotion to Molly McAdams. Even though she crushed my soul in Taking Chances and Stealing Harper, I adore her.

Blackbird, Molly's newest creation is a departure from anything you might expect. It's darker and more mysterious. It's different from anything I've read in quite a while and I loved it.

Briar Chapman has it all. She's smart and beautiful. She's marrying the man she loves in just a few weeks. But even though she has every reason to be happy, you have a feeling that everything may not be a rosy as it seems.

In a case of mistaken identity and for lack of a better word, Briar becomes the property of one Lucas Holt. Lucas Holt is dark and brooding and has lots and lots of secrets. He is also gorgeous with dark piercing eyes and dark hair that he constantly runs his hands through.

I never thought I would be able to love someone as dark as Lucas. I have definitely liked dark characters, but no one who stirred the emotion in me that he did. You can see the way he struggles with his darkness throughout the story. Lucas doesn't even try to pretend. He straight up tells Briar that he's a bad man.

The circumstances of the way Briar and Lucas come to be together are heartbreaking. I'm trying so hard not to say too much, because Blackbird is a book you need to go into knowing very little. I can't lie, some of it is hard to fathom, but I was spellbound by this story of light and dark.

As the story evolves you see the change in both characters. The best way to get me to love a book is to make me fall in love with the characters. And yes, I loved Briar and believe or not I fell in love with her devil. The dynamic between the two characters changes as the novel goes on and I'll give you one clue. It becomes sinfully sexy.

With Lucas and Briar's changing relationship comes a danger that you may expect, but will also still shock you. An ending that will blow you away and a lesson that even the darkest souls can find the light.

Blackbird is essentially a tale of love and redemption that will keep you turning page after page.

Molly McAdams Blackbird is a story I will keep with me forever. It proves that even in the darkest souls there can be light and love. Five swooning stars for Blackbird and a book boyfriend I would never expect to fall in love with.

LA REVIEWS WHAT I NEED.....BY J. DANIELS

Ladies, we've been waiting for CJ and Riley's story for a while now. We've been impatiently waiting for our next Bama Boy and he's finally here!

I can tell you right now IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT! J. Daniels has crafted a story that is sweet, sexy and has a whole lot of that Tully charm. So much charm, that I felt like I was cheating on Ben Kelly for the whole book.

CJ Tully is absolutely delicious. Tall, built, a face that's irresistibly gorgeous and that sweet southern charm make CJ a very desirable book boyfriend. One I've been replaying sexy scenes with in my head all week long.

In case you don't know, CJ is on the Ruxton Police Department with Ben and Luke. And of course Reed Tennyson (who happens to be Riley's big brother) round out this friendship. The boys have been friends for ages and it helps out that their girls are friends too.

What I Need starts out at Reed and Beth's rehearsal dinner. You probably remember, CJ had a thing for Beth for a while, but Reed shut that right down. I wasn't exactly crazy about CJ back then, but now CJ Tully is exactly what I need!

Arriving late for the rehearsal is a newly single Riley Tennyson. Even though she's very upset over the fight and breakup with her long term boyfriend, she can't help but notice how insanely attractive CJ is. When she finds out he's her partner in the wedding things get even better.

So what do you do when you're at your big brother's wedding without your plus one? You drink tequila. Lots of tequila. CJ always the good guy tries to get Riley to stop drinking tequila. Have I forgotten to mention the intense attraction these two have for each other from the very start?

That attraction leads to a very steamy wedding weekend with the CJ and Riley sneaking into each others rooms to get to know each other better. These two get to know each other intimately in a very short amount of time. Just playing the sound of CJ's voice in my head with that sexy southern drawl melted my insides. And every time he called Riley darlin', I almost spontaneously combusted.

Unfortunately, when the wedding ends and everyone goes home, Riley totally friend zones CJ. I was so disappointed and even though CJ agrees to being friends, he was more than disappointed. All of a sudden Riley starts to pop up everywhere. They've lived in the same town forever and never ran into each other. Now Riley is everywhere.

CJ decides he'd rather have Riley as a friend than not have her at all. So friendship it is. I love the way their friendship plays out. They have fun together. They laugh together and of course they tell secrets together. They're sweet and funny and yes even as friends still very sexy.

Do you think Riley can keep CJ in the friend zone? I'm not sure if I could. CJ is everything a girl could want and more.

The Alabama Summer series is one of my favorite book series ever. I have read them more than once. Ben and Mia's story, more than that. And while Ben will always be my number one Bama Boy, CJ is a VERY close second.

J. Daniels creates characters that you want to know. You wish you could be part of their friend group. I know I do. You feel the love they have for each other and how protective of each other they are.

What I Need is a book that will make you smile, swoon, and maybe even cry a little bit. You won't want it to end. I think CJ and Riley's story has become my second favorite in the Alabama Boys Series. Even though I cheated with CJ Ben, you're still my number one.

Five sexy, southern charm filled stars for CJ and What I Need!

I'll tell you a secret CJ. I really, really like you.

EMILY REVIEWS PRESTON'S HONOR...BY MIA SHERIDAN

I'm not even sure where to start describing how seriously amazing Preston's Honor is!!! I am a HUGE Mia Sheridan fan and all of her books are one clicks for me.  Preston's Honor is currently fighting for the top spot of her books!!

This story is about an epic love that never waivers.  There is also so much more within the pages than that... You'll find so many of life's true lessons within these pages without being preached to.

It's  about the importance of self worth, the value of knowing your heritage, the honor of a legacy.  Preston's Honor is about forgiveness and love and strength.

Preston and Cole are twins that were raised in a wealthy family who run a farm.  While Preston is the dutiful, honorable son, Cole is the fun loving adventurous brother.  Both lovable and admirable.

Lia is the poor daughter of a bitter angry Mexican immigrant. She has not known or received love from her mom and she has absolutely nothing of material value, but she has the love friendship of the two brothers.

Preston and Lia have always had love for one another, but circumstances and honor have kept them apart.  One night of beauty, which then turns into a day filled with tragedy and their lives are changed forever.

Without giving too much away I will say that the pages that follow brought me lots of tears, lots of cursing and maybe I even threw my kindle across the room... But have no fear and keep reading!!!

Preston's Honor is not only one of my favorite Mia Sheridan books, but will always be one of my favorite books period.  The pages were filled with so much hope and beauty and love.  They were honest and harsh but so loving. I was lost in this book and I still feel like I'm lost somewhere in the pages. Forgiveness, tolerance, and love are the underlying factor that fuels every page of this deeply moving and poignant story.

This book is buried deep within my bones and I give it 10 lip smacks!!!... Mia Sheridan, you are truly a talented writer and I thank you for another beautiful and life changing story!!  I, will always remember to make a fuss!  ❤
