“Do you
think we should be worried?” Liz asked.
“It’s Bob,
of course we should. Don’t get me wrong, he’s the smartest man I know. He just
seems to have a talent for getting into trouble. Remember last year in
California? He spent a good portion of the time unconscious. There is no
telling what he got himself into this time.” Alex said, only half joking. He
glanced over at Liz and saw the worry in her eyes. “Don’t worry, babe, we’ll
find him.”
Liz nodded
and leaned into him when he put his arm around her. She rested her head on his
chest. Liz had always felt that even though Alex, at just over six feet tall
was almost a foot taller than her, they somehow just fit. She placed one hand
on his chest and ran it down his stomach; she could feel the hard muscles
beneath his shirt. Liz tilted her head so she could see Alex’s face. He had a
strong, square jaw that was now covered in a dark beard, his brown eyes bore
into hers as if they were seeing into her soul. She noticed his dark brown hair
was lighter from the time in the sun, and it was longer than she had seen it in
a long time. He bent his head down and touched his lips to hers. One hand came
up to her own dark hair, which was in its standard messy bun, while the other
made its way down her waist to the curve of her hips. She sighed as their lips
separated and she once again laid her head on his chest. Liz took comfort in
his embrace. It seemed like no matter how bad things got, Alex could pull her
into his arms and all the bad faded away, even if only for a moment. That
moment never seemed to last long enough, though.
