RILEY'S REVIEW SURRENDER...BY JENNIFER BURROWS

"I'll come find you someday."
She put her hand to her swollen lips, "I'll be waiting."
"Oh and Kate?"
She cocked her head to the side giving her full attention. God, she was cute. "My birthday is April 16th. It happens to be the same date as my parents anniversary." ~ Tony Lupito (Massimo Bertalucci)

Katherine Anderson is a hard working New York restaurant critic. When she finds her fiancĂ© in a compromising position mere months before their wedding, she kicks him to the curb and goes alone on their romantic Italian honeymoon. Right then and there I decided I like Katherine. She had to be a strong woman to go on that trip alone. Little does she know, this trip is going to be the ride of a lifetime.

Tony Lupito is a swoon worthy dark haired, sparkling green eyed, olive skinned stranger Katherine notices on the train (that combination of looks is my complete weakness, so I get your reaction Kate, I really do). They share a look and a word on the train and it seems like that's the end of their meeting. It's not. Tony needs to find someone to safely get him out of Italy to the United States. It looks like Kate is his mark. So he starts showing up wherever she is.

Why does he need to get out of Italy? Well you would think being in the olive oil business is a relatively safe way to make a living. Well at least I would. Anyway, somehow, Tony (whose real name is Massimo Bertalucci) and his family have gotten mixed up in a black market olive oil cartel. It's a big enough deal for Tony's entire family to lose their lives and Tony to be on the run with a beautiful American woman. I admit, I was like, black market olive oil? Come on. But seriously, read on because as you're reading it all starts to make sense.

Ok, back to Katherine and Tony, because their attraction to each other is immediate. And the more time they spend together, the more relaxed Katherine becomes with him. Which is exactly what Tony needs for his plan on using Katherine to get him out of the country. Katherine, who has always been a good girl and played it safe decides to throw caution to the wind and seduces Tony. It's a very hot scene and damn I know I'd like to be in the same bed with Tony.

Throw into this mix, an American FDA agent and Italian Polizia and you have some serious suspense. Especially since you're never quite sure who the good guys and the bad guys are. I'm trying so very hard not to give any spoilers, because if you enjoy mystery and romance you need to one click this book.

Believe me, you're not going to know who's going to come out of this alive and when you find out who's behind the cartel and the reason for his causing so much damage, holy plot twist. You'll also want to just beat him senseless (I know I did).

There's a little bit of everything in this story, romance, suspense, and even a car chase scene  which I totally held my breath for, because you just don't know who's going to come out alive.

I am a huge fan of the setting of Surrender. The description of all of the spots in Italy Katherine visits are on point. I love the scene at the Trevi Fountain. I also love the description of the restaurants and the foods. I was feeling hungry (and a little jealous) as I read about all of the delicious food Katherine got to try as she went from city to city.

I'm going to give you something to look for as you're reading. The part of the book with the ring....swoon. That's all I'm going to say. With that being said, I'm giving Surrender by Jennifer Burrows a four lip smack review. The characters, the setting and the plot will keep you involved throughout the entire story.

RELEASE DAY EVENT!!! BITTERSWEET REVENGE BY...J.L. BLACK

Bittersweet Revenge
by J.L. Beck
Series: Bittersweet, #1
Genre: Mature YA/New Adult - Novella
Publish Date: July 26, 2014

I’m a slut. Or at least that’s what everyone calls me. I guess that’s what you get when everyone thinks you've slept with the whole football team and then some.

My junior year of high school I gave my heart to Corey Winchester. He was handsome, cocky, and a pure gentlemen. Then everything changed in an instant. When I found out he was spreading malicious rumors about me, after I refused to sleep with him I was utterly surprised. To add to it, he broke up with me in front of the whole school. I essentially became the laughing stock of the town. People that I once called my friends became my enemies. Finding a way to ruin my life one day at a time.

Now the shitty part is I should have known a pretty boy like him was too good to be true. After ruining my reputation and life I did everything I could to stay under the radar, but it just wasn't enough. I slowly learned that all the torment, and hate was all for one thing. Revenge. That’s what Corey wanted, and why I didn't know. Then Rex Winchester came along. Corey’s cousin, and someone I knew I shouldn't be getting close with. A whole six feet of hotness, a smile that melted the panties off of every girl in a fifty mile radius, and a heart of gold. He could have anyone he wanted, so why he chose me Corey’s ex, the bullied, slutty girl was beyond me. All I knew was that I wanted him. I wanted him more than anything. The problem was, I couldn't tell if Rex, was just like Corey or if his intentions were as innocent as he was making them out to be.

My names Jenna Haines, and this is the story of how the one thing I wanted.. turned out to be the one thing that would hurt me the most. What happens when the one thing you least expect to happen, does? When all the lies and secrets come out. Well you're about find out.

Our eyes met from across the table. His looking as if they were asking for more, answers. He looked curious, and I wasn’t looking for curious. “Yeah mine too. Let’s go get a shake. FFA still does that shake Friday thing right?” I asked. I could really go for a mint chocolate-chip shake right about now. We got up to dump our trays, but before I could move out of my seat an arm snaked around my shoulder pushing me back down. I turned all but growling as I realized the arm belonged to the mongrel Corey. “Remove your fucking arm from my body before I show you what it’s like to have your balls stuffed up your ass.” He smiled, a big toothy grin, dimples and all that use to have me melting in his hands, now I just wanted to puke all over his face. Distress singles were going off like crazy in my head.

“Tsk, tsk, is that anyway to talk to me Jenna?” He said his arm very much still around me. I was about to lose my shit. “Move on asshole, no one cares what you have to say.” Mimi yelled.

He tilted his head at her as if trying to find her one weakness. The best thing about Mimi was anything that he said to her she would brush off. I however wouldn't.

“Hmm. Why don’t you stop worrying about me, and put your tits back in your shirt. That is unless you're joining the slut club that Jenna here is the president of?” Mimi smiled, leaning across the table, giving him a huge eyeful of her cleavage. “I think your lost buddy, president of the slut club is Marie Jameson.” She replied in a sultry tone pointing to the end of the table.

“But in case you can’t find her let me draw you a map with some crayons, you go past leave us the fuck alone, turn right at fuck off, and oh look you're in slut country.” His eyes dilated, and I couldn’t hold my laughter in. Mimi always knew how to tell someone to fuck off.

I pushed his arm off of me, catching a smirk on Rex’s face at the end of the table, knowing he had probably heard the whole conversation.

Corey gazed at me, following my line of vision to Rex. As soon as I seen I was caught I dropped my eyes down to my tray. The last thing I needed was Corey having yet another thing to use against me. His face leaned into mine, I could feel his hot breath on my cheek. The last time we were in a position like this was the very last time he kissed me. It was the last time, he ever treated me like anything other than a door mat.

“I won't warn you off, because you know what I’m capable of Jenna. But if you think you have a chance with Rex you’re more than fucking wrong. Don’t cross me, you know as much as I do you don’t fit in with that crowd. I mean look at us, how well did that work out. If you think I make your life hard now, lets just say it can get ten times harder.” He whispered in my ear, wrapping a small strand of my hair around his finger before standing.

“Also you might want to start fighting your own battles. Oh and nice tits Mimi.” He said loudly well smirking. My heart was racing, as he walked away. An encounter like that never happened before. School had been in session only a week and I knew that he would more than live up to his word on hurting me.

“What a fucking douche-asshat-fucking-cumsucker” Mimi said under her breath as he walked away. I couldn't agree more, but I wasn't going to keep retaliating against him. One he wasn't worth it really, and two I would be out of here in nine short months. If I could just manage to get through it.

Mimi reached across the table and grabbed my hand, pushing me from my thoughts. “Don’t let his false threats get to you. He will get what’s coming to him, he will pay for what he’s done to you. Maybe not today, or tomorrow but someday. I swear to it Jenna.” She said sincerely.

“You know I love you right. If I was into girls I would totally choose you as my girlfriend. No homo of course.” She giggled. “Sorry love, but I’m very much into dick. Like a lot.” I laughed back. This was true friendship right here. Now to get through the rest of the day without another encounter from either of the Winchester boys.

About WITHIN THESE WALLS:

Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.   I am not strong.  I am just a survivor of circumstance. Isn’t that what we all do?  Survive? Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through.  Mine are just more…complicated. Born with a severe heart defect, I’ve seen the inside of a hospital room more than my own bedroom. I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared.  He thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget. But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever? My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and sacrificing it all for the one you love.

Prologue

Within these walls he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.
Like a white knight, he saved me from a life of gray and showed me a world full of color.
Within these walls, I gave myself to a man who said he would always fight for me.
Love me until the end of time.
But sometimes, not even love is enough when life gets in the way.
When your heart is already damaged beyond repair, what is there left to break?
Within these walls, I gave my less than perfect heart to the man I loved.
And then…he walked away.

Snow Cover

Snow the Vampire Slayer
by Rebekah R. Ganiere
Farielle #2
Publication Date: September 22, 2014
Genres: Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis:

After deposed vampire prince Sage helps King Adrian and the werewolves drive the vampires out of Wolvenglen Forest, he comes face to face with his worst fear. A beautiful woman who makes him lust to break his vow, and crave her blood.

Lady Snow Gwyn is tired of staying at home to take care of her seven brothers, instead of being out with them at night, hunting for bloodsuckers. Ever since a mysterious witch bestowed the mantel of the Vampire Slayer upon her brother, Snow has wanted nothing more than to be out there fighting along side her brothers, but it isn't her place.

And when Snow meets Sage, she's torn between the need to kill him for what she believes him to be, and the desire to give in to the feeling that he stirs within her. But Sage is more afraid than ever that his uncle Philos, King of the vampires, will find out about Snow and once and for all, stomp out any chance Sage has at true happiness.

Sage must enlist the aid of Snow's brothers to help him regain his rightful place as King of the Vampires and finally exact revenge on his uncle. If only he can keep them from killing him first.

EXCERPT:
Snow's throat went dry. The tall man with blue eyes drew ever closer.
It couldn’t be.
He had the same eyes she'd been dreaming of all day. A memory waited for her on the other side of the wall in her mind but she couldn’t quite pull it to the surface.
They circled each other and though she wasn’t foolish enough to lower her sword, she felt strangely comfortable being near him. Yet frightened at the same time.
Images flashed through the block. Together in the glade. His lips on hers, his tongue on her hand, the desire in his eyes as he looked at her. The fear deepened.
"I remember you,” she murmured, “but I don’t."
He stopped moving for a moment, his brows knit together. He stepped closer again.
"Don't do that." She spun out of reach. "Stop where you are."
"Oh, come now, don’t act like that." He smiled.
What a great smile.
"I mean it,” she said, “Don't come near me. I don’t want to have to hurt you." Her body trembled, but her voice held steady. Snow's inner alarm sounded. Something about him set her on edge. What was it she couldn't remember?
"Oh, you wouldn’t hurt me." His eyes locked on hers and her mind took on a familiar foggy quality. "You don't want to hurt me."
"Stop!" She broke eye contact and shook her head. "You're right. I don’t, but I will." She thrust the sword in warning. He took a cautious step back and smirked.
There was something sensual about him that drew her in. He talked to her with such familiarity, like a joke she wasn't in on.
His broad shoulders cut straight down to his trim waist beneath a long leather coat. Snow wondered what his hands would feel like on her skin. He closed his eyes and sucked in a long, deep breath, a look of complete peace crossed his face.
"What are you doing?"
He opened his eyes and she could swear they shone that bit brighter, in the moonlight.
"Smelling you."
"What? That's just–” She fumbled for something to say. “You’re trespassing. You should go." The nagging feeling of unease increased.
"Make me, love." A smile played across his face.
Why did men always think they could treat her as a lesser? Lunging, she swung her sword, but he wasn’t there.
"Back here, love," he said.
He stood behind her.  She swung around, huffed and lunged again. He stepped out of her way and she missed. Running at him, she thrust at his stomach, but he swatted the sword away and spun behind her. Grabbing her about the waist, he tugged her into his chest, bent over her neck and kissed it playfully.
"I like this side of you." His cool breath raised goosebumps on her skin.
Slamming her head back, Snow caught him by surprise. He let go of her and stumbled to his knee, his nose dripping blood into the grass.
"Don't ever touch me without my permission." Memories of Lord Balken made her pulse race and a bead of sweat trickle down her spine.
His eyes flashed dangerously, but then softened. He gritted teeth his teeth, wiped his nose on his sleeve and spat on the ground.
"Who are you?" More images broke through. Though she only caught bits and pieces she believed she'd met this dazzling stranger in the dark. But she would be damned if she would let a man play her for a bar wench. "You sir, will never get what you desire from me."

Synopsis:

After nearly four years with Jeff, everything fell apart. I found myself single, scared, but somehow liberated as well. Rather than stumble into another ill advised relationship, my best friend Sally helped me find focus. I would spend the next few months “finding myself” sexually. That’s how The Rebound List was born. My journey begins with the first item on my list - a virgin. But it's not easy to go from squeaky-clean committed girlfriend to wanton sex goddess. Hopefully I'll have the guts to follow through! What (or whom) would you do to celebrate your freedom after your first serious relationship breaks down?

Excerpt:

Some additions were clear choices I had thought about for a long time: hooking up with a virgin and an older guy for example. Other details came to mind after drunkenly bouncing ideas off of each other. These usually started with the phrase ‘wouldn’t it be awesome if...’
In the cold light of day, some of the excitement still lingered, however I had also lost a little confidence and started to doubt whether I could pull this off. Indeed Jeff was only the second guy I had slept with, and I’d be lying if I said that baring all in front of various men wasn’t at least a bit unnerving.
But I would cross that bridge in time, so I set about executing the initial stages of the plan. Sally had shown me a site she had used to hook up before, like a social network for dirty minds. To avoid any risk of early commitment issues, my backstory was decided to be that of a bored wife, looking for fun on the side.
I set up my profile with a suitably disguised photo, sparse personal details mentioning my supposed marriage and a well filled list of sexual interests and kinks. The opening line was simply my newly adopted motto: No commitment, only pleasure.
